#7 English Song

Heal The World
By Michael Jackson

There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place could be much
Brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need to cry
In this place you'll feel
There's no hurt or sorrow
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space, make a better place

Reff:
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

If you want to know why
There's a love that cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares for joyful giving
If we try we shall see
In this bliss we cannot feel
Fear or dread
We stop existing and start living
Then it feels that always
Love's enough for us growing
Make a better world, make a better world

( Back to Reff )

And the dream we would conceived in
Will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed
in
Will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earth, crucify it's soul
Though it's plain to see, this world is heavenly
Be God's glow

We could fly so high
Let our spirits never die
In my heart I feel
You all are my brothers
Create a world with no fear
Together we'll cry happy tears
See the nations turn
Their swords into plowshares
We could really get there
If you cared enough for the living
Make a little space to make a better place

( Back to Reff )

There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place
For you and for me

You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Make a better place
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in

You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children
You and for me / Heal the world we live in
You and for me / Save it for our children

I love this song, it has a very good meaning,  I love the lyrics and melody. It means to stop having wars with other countries and just stop fighting because it's not helping anyone, wants everyone to just get along and there's no need for hate and enemies. Basically just wanted ever to stop fighting and get along with each other and just be plain nice. It reminds me to go out into this world and make a difference. Do something positive for others. Do our best to make it a better place not just for us but future generations.

Jackson said "Heal the World" is the song he was most proud to have created. He also created the Heal the World Foundation, a charitable organization which was designed to improve the lives of children. The organization was also meant to teach children how to help others.

#6 Steve Jobs' Talk

This week's assignment from Mrs.Sally:

And i think the five most important life lessons from Jobs's Stanford commencement:

1.The road to success isn't linear
Jobs faced many failures and setbacks on his road to success, but he used those experiences to fuel the fire of his ambition and create new opportunities for himself. The unique skills Jobs picked up after dropping out of college ended up being invaluable to his future success.

2.Finding what you love is the most important task of a lifetime.

If there's one message to take away from Jobs's Stanford commencement, it's that you must do anything and everything to find what you love, both in your work and in your relationships. Finding and doing what you love will energize your life every day and give you the patience and determination to turn your failures into opportunities.
Jobs says: "Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick,Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did."
Jobs explains that he was lucky to find what he loved to do early in life. His love for his work helped him get through the darkest time in his career.

3.Know that the universe has your back.
Although he didn't see it at the time, Jobs says that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have happened to him. The experience helped him to realize that setbacks are often blessings in disguise, and that life has a way of working out in our favor.

4.Live like you're dying.
Contemplating death isn't morbid -- it can, in fact, give greater meaning to your life, says Jobs, and help you to remember what's important.

5.Follow your own path.
If there's any one secret to Jobs's success, it's that he was true to himself and his own vision.
He said:"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma -- which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

so, Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish!!!

#2 Dictionary Exercise

Read the article: Walk or cycle for 'a happier commute from BBC News is this week's dictionary exercise from our teacher, Ms.Sally. And there are 2 words more unfamiliar for me:

1. a necessary evil

(idiom)

a thing that is bad or that you do not like but which you must accept for a particular reason
example:
  • The loss of jobs is regarded as a necessary evil in the fight against inflation.
2. well-being   (noun)
general health and happiness
example:
  • To have a sense of well-being
  • We try to ensure the well-being of our employees
I choose Oxford Learner's Dictionary to look these two words. Because I feel comfortable use this online dictionary and it's easy to use.
I think use online dictionaries is more efficient and faster for me when I look up the words. So I also use online dictionaries in my daily.
